CV: (CV in revision, 2005) A Nebraskan born and raised, David grew up with a deep appreciation for landscape and sky. Before his 10th grade year he moved from Lincoln to Omaha and began dissociating himself from the people and places influential in his youth. A week before his 19th birthday he moved to Oakland, California and began to explore his sexuality in an overlong relationship in the Gay Mecca. A year later he matriculated at Oberlin College where he began his studies as a voice major. Since then he has broadened his understanding and appreciation of classical music, and, during an internship at a small opera company near Oakland, decided to focus his talents on conducting opera. Since then he has reconnected with Nebraska while still considering Oakland his home.

David studied conducting with two influential teachers. Choral conductor Dr. Hugh Ferguson Floyd has been Director of Choral Activities at Oberlin since 1997 and studied with such greats as Margaret Hillis and Elizabeth Green. He also holds a position as Choral Director at the Interlochen Arts Academy's summer session in addtion to his demand as an adjudicator and guest lecturer. Maestro Michael Morgan has had a distinguished career since his undergraduate studies at Oberlin, working with legends such as Leonard Bernstein, Georg Solti, and Leonard Slatkin. He is currently the Music Director of the Oakland East Bay Symphony and Sacramento Philharmonic in addition to his duties as Artistic Director of the Oakland Youth Orchestra and the Festival Opera Company in Walnut Creek, CA.

In 2002, David was invited to the Tanglewood Music Center of the Boston Symphony Orchestra as a private student of Michael Morgan, and appeared as Assitant Music Director for the Festival Opera Company's production of Carlisle Floyd's Susannah. The following season he won acclaim as the Chorus Master for Festival Opera's Aida, expanding the sound and nuance of the small and aged group to that of a professional chorus. He also served as Music Director for Oberlin Opera's production of Der Kaiser von Atlantis with Director Eric Einhorn in 2002, and assistant music director for Oberlin Opera's Alcina in the spring of 2003. Later that year he joined San Francisco Opera in the Public Relations department.

As a singer, David has been a recurring soloist with the Oberlin College Choir and performs with the baroque ensemble Apollo's Fire, based in Cleveland, Ohio. He has performed two solo recitals at Oberlin and is in demand as a performer of Baroque and Renaissance vocal music. He made his operatic debut on the stage of the Oberlin Opera Theater department's Alcina as Oronte in March of 2003. He currently performs in the Bay Area with San Francisco Choral Artists, a professional group of 24 singers performing in many styles. David studied voice with Bass-Baritone Gerald Crawford at Oberlin. A phenom since his youth, Crawford teaches organically, stressing musicality and deeper understanding of standard repertoire along with technique.

David owes his success in music to his family and friends' constant support and would like to extend his gratitude to these people, without whom he would be just another amateur musician.
