Which use of rather: in the sort of adjective-y way like somewhat, or for telling preference?

i use it both of those ways rather often, but i probably use the latter rather than the former more often.

More the former than the latter, though I can't remember anyone actually using "rather" these days.

i think i hear it pretty often in this context:
someone: do you want to grab a buger
someone else: mmm, i'd rather get a burrito

I use rather as a conjunction in writing quite frequently, but almost never out loud.

It is. There's a number of other usage things I keep wondering about, but I can't remember them now. I'll write them down as I remember them.
